Job Overview
HSP Engineering & Environmental Services has an immediate opening for an experienced Intermediate/Senior Civil engineer. This is a career position for a well-organized professional who will play an important role in delivering projects in the commercial, institutional and industrial sectors.
The successful candidate will have attained a degree in Civil/Structural Engineering and will have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a full range of responsibilities related to Civil engineering. The ideal candidate will possess excellent verbal and written skills, be highly organized and efficient with excellent attention to detail and have the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines.

- The successful candidate will report to the civil/structural engineering department manager and must:
- Consults with and provides guidance to project stakeholders and managerial staff regarding engineering requirements for construction of various designs, modifications, and structural repairs
- Uses design software and drawing tools to accurately render and communicate designs;
- Sets design specifications by computing load and grade requirements, material stress factors, water flow rates, and similar parameters
- Plans projects based on the analysis of relevant materials such as drawings, blueprints, aerial photography, survey reports, maps, and other geologic and topographical data
- Drafts and presents reports on topics related to projects
- Collaborates with architects and contractors to ensure projects progress properly
- Collaborates with surveyors (or directs and participates in surveying) to establish installations or reference points, grades, elevations, and other factors that will affect construction
- On completion of a project, inspects, repairs, and maintains the structures as needed
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Develop project plans
- Construction site inspections and meetings
- Prepare reports of design intent, design progress and construction progress
- Liaise with others in the design team
- Communicate with clients and contractors
- Provide engineering information by answering questions and requests
Required Skills
- Senior/Intermediate civil engineer with minimum 5 years experience (Candidate must have their Professional Engineering designation in Ontario or be eligible for licensing within 2 years)
- Thorough understanding of civil engineering principles, practices and tools.
- French language an asset
- Competency in AutoCAD is required. Experience with Revit or 3D is an asset
- Proficient in Outlook, Excel and Word
- Highly organized and efficient with excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
- Driver’s License and access to a vehicle
Work Schedule
- Extended health/dental care
- Full-time, Permanent, Monday to Friday
Pay Rate
- $30-$50/hr
